Q1 has been an interesting start of the year. There seems to be an influx of "fake" job postings, especially on LinkedIn. Along with what seems to be a saturated market in the Tech Industry.

What do you mean by "fake" in this case? You mean, companies trying to give the impression they are hiring, or are you talking about scams?

The ghost jobs, resume collectors, and identity scam posts are a real problem since 2012. Its just gotten worse since AI. Now they can make a fake company, with a fake job, and fake recruiters. You now have to research everything before even applying, otherwise your could have some real problems.

There is FINALLY legislation coming to combat the estimated 30% or higher fake job postings on line.

Truth in Job Advertising and Accountability Act (TJAAA): This proposed U.S. federal bill aims to prohibit companies from posting fictitious, expired, or purely speculative roles. If passed, it would:
Require employers to remove job listings once filled.
Mandate transparency regarding hiring outcomes and salary ranges.
Allow job seekers to take legal action against employers who post deceptive ads.

There are other states making it illegal now as well.

I am looking for a job.

Yeah there needs to be better verification of opportunities from the job site side. I think referrals are really the only way to go without wasting your time.

Those of you with a degree in computer science (or similar), what do you do for work and how did you end up doing that?

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

I've been searching for a new job because I know I am underpaid. I have 12+ years of experience in the event industry and seven years in the Event Tech world. I interviewed with Netflix, Amazon, and Microsoft. I went through all the stages, but I was not selected. Any advice? I think I did great in all my interviews; my resume is solid, and I have four university degrees including a Master’s. I speak English and Spanish. Any advice of what my problem might be?

Please, I need your opinion on this. I have 6 years of experience as a software developer and just finished my masters degree in data science. Now I am looking for a job here in the US. I went through the hiring process with this company and finally got an offer. They offered 88k/year and I responded opening a negotiation. They emailed me back saying that I am no longer in this process anymore with no further explanation and in Thanksgiving day. Is that normal?that email really got me very upset

I got a call from the Google recruiter about my L7 em interview Google She said I did overwhelmingly good on all interviews except one had mixed feedback on a system design. No surprise because it was not a good interview. The recruiter said i had a choice to go to hiring committee, give referrals they could call about my system design or take another system design interview. I’m not confident about the system design because of the bad experience I had with the previous interviewer. What should I do?

I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.
