I’ve seen salaries drop for accounting jobs in Central Iowa this year. For example, Staff Accountant roles start around $42K now — last year they were $45–47K. Also got a part-time tax preparer offer at $18/hr. Is it just Iowa?

Was recently offered a job in Hawaii that would be a much larger role than I currently have (deputy chief architect). The downside is the cost of living is nearly double my current location and I would only be getting a 40% pay increase. Do you think it’s worth giving up quality of life/spending value decrease to accept the larger career and possibly expedite my career progression?
