You're not the only person saying that, I'm sure. It just feels different in recent years. I still check to see what people I know, or worked with, in real life have to say about things. But for the most part the platform feels very odd. Like you say, there's a lot of attention seeking by people struggling to become influencers or thought leaders. I once actually found a job through LinkedIn, but that feels like a very different era.
Yeah, the "I got fired and now I’m better than ever" posts are getting out of hand. But recruiters are still there. I use LinkedIn to track who’s hiring, then I hit them up via email instead. It’s faster and actually works.
What do you use to find their emails?
I got a job a few years ago but I also feel like it’s a bunch of pretend gurus.
I've had a lot of recruiters reach out with great opportunities via linkedin
In my experience, if recruiters use Linkedln then they expect you(as a candidate) to use it and have it accurately updated. Which can be a detriment to your early stages of job hunting. I know many folk who don't bother with their profile until they are looking for a job - but it does feel as if our Linkedln profile is used as a primary tool for recruiters.
