Onesies with zippers.
Make sure whatever you get has zippers.
No buttons.
Did I mention zippers?
onesies all day everyday
Yep! We had tons of cute boy clothes for our first and lots of lovely dresses for our second baby. But we dressed them in the onesies all time…more comfy and comfortable
Sleepers every day lol
Carters sleepers with feet! I didn’t like onsies or anything that went over the head.
Great point
My son had an absolute melt down with anything going over his head
Also socks fall off so easily and are hazard in bassinet. Feet are key.
With my first I had lots of undershirts. He’d just wear them with a diaper. If we went out, he’d wear a onesie. He was a summer baby. With my fourth kid, he’s lucky if he gets out of his pajamas. 😆
My kids lived in the Carter’s Sleep and Play zip up/snap one pieces.
Honestly, I found the t-shirts that fold over their hands that they wear in the hospital were the best thing.
You have to change their diapers so frequently that only wearing a top made the most sense. Most hospitals will be happy to give you some to take home.
Lots of double zip onesies for pajamas, and then I’m big into everyone getting out of pajamas and getting dressed for the day (it helps me feel good, even if I’m just changing leggings, so I always force it on the kids). From there, I did all sorts of onesies, little pants and onesie sets, etc. Check out newborn and 0-3 month outfits at Little Me, Carters, Janie & Jack, and H&M for some ideas.
I dress(ed) my kiddos in onesies, and if the baby will be born when the weather/climate is cold, I recommend buying onesies that cover their feet, especially if/when you go outside the house. Socks are bound to come off and get lost during the newborn days. I think jackets and pants are unnecessary unless you're doing a photo shoot or introducing them to others. Your hands will likely reach for the outfits that are easiest to put on the baby and not the cute accessories.
You can also consider buying a sleep sack or two. My first baby was almost always in a sleep sack, even when he was awake. I just unzipped/opened the sleep sack when he wasnt sleeping. For some reason that was easier for me at the time, but my for my second, I only put him in a sleep sack at night (I'm using blankets more often during the day).
Lots of cute onesies. I loved cloud island from target and Nordstrom brand onsies. Go easy on the super stretchy fabrics that are highly marketed online. I love bamboo pajamas now that my children are toddlers, but found the stretchy fabrics super hard to get on and off when they were NB. Cotton onesies with a 2- way zipper (zips from top or bottom) are great. I’d also steer clear of onesies you have to put over their heads (t-shirt style) and ones with tons of buttons. Good luck! 🙏♥️🫶
This is all very helpful. Thank ladies so much!!
We kept him in the Velcro fleece swaddle thing almost all the time. So onesie underneath.
Zippers are amazing. If you end up in Nicu you need snaps
So maybe have one or two of those.
Gowns with the hand covers
Sleep gowns for my son. He was a pooper and my husband loved them for diaper changes
Onesies for warm weather, footie pajamas for cold. You’ll need lots of each but not much else in terms of clothes for the first few months. You might need swaddles too if your baby likes being swaddled (mine didn’t so we just went with footie pajamas). You might want a couple cute accessories (bows, headbands, etc) for photos.
Zipper and magnet onsies
I hated onesies. So hard to change the diaper. Two pieces are way easier.. or family at home, just use a baby tshirt and diaper. And put the baby in a swaddle or sleep sack when they nap.
Sleepers and onsies for a year.
