Since I could read, I have started my day by reading the paper (Mandatory in my house). I am shocked that doing so every day is now horrifying for so many reasons

I've been avoiding the news like the plague and will continue to do so for the sake of my sanity. This is going to be a very long four years.

that has always been my families way; along with listening to NPR in the morning.
i've had to stop, not just for mental health, but I got physically sick and needed to keep my stress levels low. But hi knowledge is empowering and not knowing is both frightening, and is how we are more likely to get hurt.
if you started a plain text newsletter called "all the horrifying things I read in the news today so you don't have to" I think you could get a lot of subscribers.

A certain number of years ago I took off all the apps on my phone and the headline news that would pop up. Still believe you have to know what is going on, but try to not be bombarded by it 24/7. It’s a lot to take in on any day. Wish it wasn’t but trying to maintain my sanity in the meantime.

Fear and controversy sells. I think that the media has been capitalizing on that for at least the last 100 years, but I'm sure much longer. I've started to try and find more balanced news that doesn't just stoke fear and division. I also only read/listen to a limited amount of news. We weren't meant to consume a 24 hour news cycle

Reorgs are just a part of the corporate world. If you haven’t been a part of one in your career yet, then you most likely haven’t been in the corporate workforce for very long. If you have been a part of a reorg, however, how do you personally approach it? There are many factors at play, but in general do you try to establish relationships with the individuals you know will be key contributors and/or decision makers going forward? Or do you lay low and let what ever happens be/hope for the best?

Bain & Company Bain & Company Do you have any insights into what they are expecting in the second (last) round? I saw that there are two cases and a presentation. Are they more interested in professionalism than the "analytical" skills assessed in the first round? Do you have any more insights into the presentation?

Many thanks in advance

Anyone familiar with nanny taxes?
We've always just paid cash to our previous nannies and our new one is requesting to be paid via a W-2.
That will force us to pay additional 7.5% in FICA as employers.

Can we pay her on a 1099? How does that work and do we have to contribute anything ourself if we do similar to W2?

Please keep unhelpful judgments to a minimum regarding us trying to pay cash
