Pay off your credit cards and other debt first. If you need a new car, get one. Of you just want it, save your money until you really need. Personally, I don’t like driving new cars- too stressful worrying about every scratch and ding, higher insurance costs, and the higher cost at registration time… I love my 2001 Honda Civic… reliable, low cost and great gas milage!

The thought of the monthly payment is what bugs me. I haven't had a car payment in 5 years
I usually walk myself through a thought process where I'll consider what I'll be thinking about the purchase afterward. I have often bought things and felt excited but then when I've gotten them they really haven't made that much difference in my life. If it was situation where I really needed a new car and it would make a meaningful difference, I would talk myself into it. But if I thought it was something I'd get tired of quickly, or it really just wasn't necessary, I'd talk myself out of it.

I am seriously looking at the possibility of leasing.
I look at finances and bills and whether or not i can really afford said big purchase. Its so hard to know when its a good time to get a new car because there really never is a great time. I say go for it if you can afford to fit it into your budget.

I am reviewing my options.
Do I need it, and can I afford it? Those are the two main things I consider, mostly the need part. Do you need a new car or are you just being selfish, as you said yourself?

I would love to have a newer car so I would feel safe to make trips to Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Alabama to see family. Of course right now, I guess we could use my daughter's car if we go a a family.
So maybe if you really want to be talked out of a purchase, I am not the one to do it. I think you work hard for your money and you can’t take it with you. There will always be a better time… you just don’t know. You can talk yourself out of anything. If you have enough money to pay your bills and take care of your family- buy the car. Life is short!

Well....I hadn't thought of it that way 🤔. I am thinking that if I can get three cards paid off, then I can go ahead and get the car
