In 2015 different governments in the US collected $5,175,829,952,000 to service 321,230,000 people. That’s over $16,000 per person. Anyone else find this shocking?

It only cost 16k per head to service all your infrastructure, highways, utilities, and social security? Seems like a bargain.

Not to mention the strongest military in the world. I think I might be on board with that.

Granted it’s only 9k/head in Canada and we have healthcare...

GT1 - several friends and family members of mine are members of the Canadian Armed Forces and I can assure you they are very much a “real military”. Enough so that Canadian units get tasked with providing training to several US regiments.

The Albertsons (Jewel) and Kroger (Mariano’s) merger would be terrible for Chicago. I doubt antitrust will allow them to retain all stores here. Maybe a player trying to enter the region will buy out those stores.

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?

I spent a year in tax investigations where I believe I was thriving ( I was going to be an assistant manager in July 2023), I had a lot of assistant manager jobs, I even drafted a Code 9 report to HMRC which my manager said was 80% of an actual report, he then added the 20% and submitted it.
After I realised I couldn't maintain all the unpaid overtime I was working I decided to take a turn and go to compliance, so now I work in CT compliance. I feel very surpressed.
