With all the vocal opposition of AI from creatives and the public in general, I would have thought this would have the opposite effect on Cannes judges and push them to award human-made craft.
But since we seem to be living in the Idiocracy timeline I guess going full AI-focus wouldn’t shock me either. Which blows.
The problem is that creative leadership =/= from the day to the day-to-day creative. The majority of the people I work with are anti-ai. AI took away the fun, the budgets, and decent timelines. But leadership will embrace it because they don't have a backbone so whatever it takes to position themselves as innovators and up to date with trends. I'd seen this before with other technologies.
So I don't expect the jury to lean anti-ai and they will even award some slop. I'm willing to place a bet on this.
Depends on the categories. For example, AI on any crafting categories: not good.
I think a lot of people will submit ai-driven ideas. A few years ago, just using ai was enough. I’m cautiously optimistic that juries will want to see how ai enhanced an idea rather than was the idea. Or at least the juries that are still run by experienced creatives. That’s not as many of them as there once were. Bc when you ask clients to judge, they often have a different agenda for what makes work good (cost/time/scale)
The only “AI” work worthy of an award is Anthropic and that wasn’t made with AI.
