Some rejections roll off easily. Others stick. The ones that bothered me most were roles where I felt genuinely aligned and invested. Some felt like they would've changed my life and career and it was honestly really tough to get over it. Over time, I learned to treat those as things outside my control, not verdicts on ability.

How do you process rejections that felt especially close?

Some rejections do seem unfair and wrong and it's hard to get over them. Still, we always need to keep in mind that the hiring process is always a competition and there's only one winner at the end. So there's always a chance things won't work out in our favor, and we usually don't know why someone else edged us out. It's normal to feel disappointment, but it's best to get over it quickly.

I had a tough rejection about 2 months ago. Everything felt great going through the interview process. Rejected even after meeting with what felt like every person at the company and having a lot of hope. I just had to tell myself I did the best I could throughout, and that’s all I can do.

This is a question about friendships. Two friends got into a really bad fight this past weekend. They have each asked me to hang out this weekend. What do I do? I don’t want to have to choose sides. The other I’ve known less longer, but we seem more compatible. Advice??
