I think it's that we enjoy being the bad guys. I'm sure some out there do, but I'd bet 99% of us fall into the "unwilling messenger" category. I don't want to be there when someone is notified they're being put on a PIP. I don't want to tell someone they're losing their job. There's no joy in any of it for me.

Spot on. People assume HR enjoys the tough stuff, when in reality it's the part that weighs on us the most. I'd much rather spend my time building culture than delivering bad news.

USI fish: I was promoted in Aug last year and I though we were supposed to get raises in February. Wasn't that announced in USI too?
