Circe. Great book for anyone who is interested in Greek Mythology and wouldn’t mind a more interesting spin on Homer’s Odyssey
I’m also looking forward to getting to this audiobook - I am listening to the new odyssey translation first (read by Clair Danes) and heard about both these on the Ezra Klein interview with Madeline Miller
Reading “The Farm” by Joanne Ramos - really interesting story of a group of women who are surrogates for wealthy individuals
It has some interesting points on Human attachments ! Why some people are secure, some anxious, some avoid. Mid way through it, like is so far.
I would suggest it to anyone who is curious about navigating relationships ! I have had my *aha* moments looking back on why I or People around me behave in a certain way.
Sitting down to read “Murder on the Orient Express” this afternoon. Reading on recommendation of sister in law. Hope it’s good! 🤞
Turns out... a very solid quick read!
The Earthsea series by Ursula K LeGuin, YA fantasy but with all of the tropes inverted so it's a fast but oddly disquieting read. Deeply enjoyable
My favorite fiction I read in last few years was the disposed by Ursula Leguin - I’m sort o fb a leftist and I believe it paints this fascinating picture of what true communitarian anarchy could look like - both in its weaknesses and pain points and it’s glory. It brought so much life and nuance to considering social systems. Beautiful fascinating book.
A couple that I liked recently were Malcolm Gladwell’s Talking to Strangers (my first Malcolm Gladwell read) and Karen McManus’ The Cousins (a young adult fiction). Both kept me interested from start to finish.
No, I haven’t read any other Gladwell books. Have you? Any recommendations?
Read Where the Crawdad Sings, loved it. Now reading The Highly Sensitive Person. I have a family member has a sensory disorder so interested in understanding and communicating.
I found my work took over and all the work I do exhausts me, I needed to stop and focus on things that intrested me. I'm much happier.
Just finished The good daughter by Karin Slaughter as I am going through a thriller phase and I found it soul crushing 🥺. I am now tempted to read (also from her) Pretty Girls…
