If they were, they aren't any longer. Most DEI programs were eliminated over the past few years once it fell out of favor. Even before that, I'm skeptical that they really made much of a difference. It always felt performative to me. Which is too bad, because I think they could have made a real difference if companies truly cared about them.
Suprised they stopped. I thought diversity and equality was a massive thing right now. Although maybe more with LBGBTQ+ then race and ethnicity.
I have wondered the same. A policy means nothing if it is not lived. Real change shows up in hiring practices, inclusion, and how voices are heard—not just the paperwork.
I think these policies are put in employee handbooks so companies can prove they have these policies. Most companies don’t follow or enforce them. So I’m going to say most employers are just checking off a box when they come up with these policies.
I think it depends on the company. Some genuinely try to challenge bias and build better cultures, while others just polish policies for show. We polish 💅
