You think that's the extent of the left helping people? Because I haven't been hearing about clean needle programs in stump speeches. More about free lunch and breakfast for school children. Affordable health care even for people with preexisting conditions. Paid parental leave. Protecting women's health care. Protecting contraception and IVF. Keeping strong consumer protections in place so corporations don't take advantage of people. Getting rid of junk fees. Forgiving student debt for poor Americans who may otherwise never be able to pay off all the interest.

I call BS on the 563 drone strikes number.
We were doing 2-5 drone strikes PER DAY in Syria alone while I was working a task force there in 2015. Plus sustained drone operations in Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and quieter operations in a few other places.

Whilst I get the main point of this cartoon, we won’t get more people to vote Dem by calling everyone that everyone that ever voted GOP stupid, racist, selfish etc.
Some of the underlying motivations of people who lean a bit right are not dreadful. Wanting to help people keep what they earn rather than defaulting to relying on others, managing immigration in a sensible way rather than assuming that more is always good, exhibiting caution when introducing new ideas in schools because we don’t always know the consequences of our actions (note, despite all the ‘improvements’ we’ve tried to make to children’s lives their mental health is lower than ever).
Now, to be clear, I think these people are very badly served by the GOP and there right and of Dem’s should cater to most of those feelings but we want to get more votes and calling people names is not going to help. Yes I get that the cartoon is attacking the party, not the people, but people associate themselves with the party they voted for so it is easy to accidentally make ones attack to broad.

OP: thank you for the thoughtful response. I guess I’ve had a different experience. I agree trump is beyond what even Reagan would advocate for but there are plenty of weird things the left have voted for too which are used as extreme examples of ‘why not to vote Dem’.
On the school lunch point, I agree it should be free but if free food helps even out differences in social/economic class then why stop there? If it’s good for kids it is good for workers? Why not nationalise the provision of lunch to everyone? Many kids have a bad start to their day because their parents don’t/can’t provide breakfast. So why not nationalise that too? It would 100% benefit poor kids a lot. Of course, one of the biggest things impacting different outcomes is that rich kids tend to be read to much more than their poorer classmates. So why not either ban the rich from reading to their kids or provide free bed time reading services for all?
An absurd ‘slippery slope’ argument of course, but my point is that your disagreement with a GOP voter on yes/no for free lunches may actually just be an argument about degree (where to draw the line: I assume you draw the line before nationalising lunch for all) rather than some huge philosophical disagreement on whether poor people deserve to eat or not.
Why is it me being asked to help 100% of the time? That’s the part that is tiring and wearing very thin.
