This is my first position in a healthcare setting. I'm finding it to be very top down. Doctors = more valued, Hourly = least valued. Is this just my experience? Or is this typical in healthcare? My background is mental health in community settings and non-profits.

I do think doctor's get more respect due to their positions but I don't really think the hourly employees are devalued. I think it might depend on where you work. If it's a toxic and negative environment, I could see how there would be a lot of "us vs. them" instead of a team atmosphere.

This is pretty much the universal ideology of healthcare. Doctors are at the top of the food chain. It's unfortunate that everyone else who makes healthcare go around is ignored.

I feel like that has something to do with the patriarchal tone of this country. Most of the doctors at my hospital (and in general) are men.

Going away this weekend. Didn’t tell my boss until they emailed us expecting weekend work. I told them that I can try to work when I can and not sure how bad the WiFi is gonna be. They replied with saying that it’s okay, and that they’ve been working with shitty WiFi while out of town. Idk how to feel about that. Kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I’m not trying to be a jerk. Has this happened to you during quarantine?
