I looked into it when my daughter was young, but could never commit. A lot of the casting calls were 4 to 8 hours long on a random Tuesday and IF she made it, we would get $300 or something like that. My take away was that you’d need a stay at home parent fully committed to make it work.
Ditto, took my now 22-year-old to a casting call for M&M-Mars Candies about 18 years ago. A long ordeal and appeared to not be worth it.
I’ve been a consultant for too long
I was thinking “what on earth is a child going to model?!”
😂😂
You need to have a really flexible schedule if you plan to work and do the auditions/casting calls. Auditions and casting calls are usually a 0-3 days notice. Sometimes you won’t get notice you’re cast until the night before the shoot date. They do send out an availability check prior to casting calls though. But yes, they’re totally during the days on weekdays. Payouts are dependent on the project, of course. Regular print can be $300+, whereas a commercial can be $1000+. Also reruns, you’ll get paid out again if they decide to do another run. For young kids, it is quite tiring though; it is, at the end of the day, work.
Use a casting website and make a profile. Acting and reading and being patient and following directions is key. But, your kid can do background work to learn the ropes and start to get credit towards being accepted into the union etc. check the rules for your state.
