Metrics are a huge problem across insurance. There are too many time consuming- one off type variables that aren’t accounted for .
I left Allstate after 36 years due to the impossibility of meeting metrics and toxic work environment. Now working for Progressive, which is the lesser of two evils. The claims insurance business is now brutal.
Metrics or Best Practices are always impossible and cause huge turnover. Every time the DOI increases their requirements, the insurance companies go into a tizzy trying to avoid the Boogeyman fines. Never hire adequate staff. No win situation
Metrics are always unreasonable, difficult to unrealistic to achieve and measured in a way you can' t understand. All so you can't achieve the financial carrot.
I don’t know about Allstate but speaking as a 20+ yr adjuster at Progressive - the metrics just get harder and harder to obtain year after year. Not only existing ones get tighter, there are always new ones to add. I don’t have anxiety but it is anxiety inducing
