It feels like agencies have a lot of made up problems now that I'm in-house.
manufactured urgency is shortening my life
I’m a musician so I’m split between various gigs, one off freelance creative gigs, and I sell vintage items. It’s not easy but I’m waaaaaaaay more fulfilled in life and even more affirmed with my decision to leave and accepting the trauma I’ve endured in the industry.
I’d rather do 5 things that can make me money that is true/authentic to my existence than to work at a single shop for a “just alright” salary.
so happy for you. truly! may it get easier, too.
Do people ever look back? I wouldn’t.
I didn't think so but saw a couple of comments here to that effect and thought I'd solicit them. I just want to know what exit doors lead to greener pastures!
Rising Star
I 1000% wouldn’t be in the Advertising fishbowl 😂
I talk with my coworkers in corporate jest about “the agency days” and pity our vendor. Definitely don’t think about going back.
I was HR for one of the bigger agencies. When I got laid off, I got really lucky and someone in my network helped me find a gig in another industry that I have experience in (manufacturing). I work as a corporate HR manager for a company of about 250. My former employer did me a favor.
Not bad
What am I doing? I’m getting constantly shocked at how ad agencies care about awards more than they do about the results their clients pay them for.
