This is how most workplaces end up being for me after the initial honeymoon phase, to be honest. There's always something murky and upsetting underneath the surface that nobody acknowledges until they end up leaving. I've honestly yet to find a workplace that I didn't have this sort of dynamic, unfortunately.
Or you deal with the unhealthy environment because you need to work but end up being pushed out eventually because you are the person that doesn't get involved in the office politics, therefore you are disliked or don't fit in with their office dynamic.
Do you mean put on a good face at the interview but once employed, you witness the opposite? The answer is Yes.
They always hide behind “positivity” and pizza parties. The last place I worked was just like that. Everyone wanted to work there, but once you got in, it was awful. I had to leave because of the toll it took on my mental health.
