I mean, there are things about your life that you don't share even with your closest/best friend. Aren't there? Why do you think that just because someone is your friend, you must share every detail of what you do with them?
Especially at work, you have to be careful before you consider anyone your friend, and when you do, still know what not to share with them.
And you don't have to stay "quiet" when they're engaging you. Aren't there other basic fun things about your life that you can share without any potential consequences? Even for those of us who have one 9-5, I still don't talk much about my job to my friends and work colleagues.
Just a simple work is fine kinda conversation (only about the job you both work together in), pivot and talk about vacations, weather, economy, fun family highlights (don't overshare about family either), etc.
You make it sound like you can't have a conversation with them without talking about your 2 jobs. Talk about other things and keep some aspects of your life private including this one.

This is a great response.
Perhaps I should have clarified and said not to share OE, but have pleasant chit chat and small talk with colleagues. Hold your cards close, but be pleasant. There's no need to sit quietly in the corner, because that may get the attention you do not want.
