Not what you were asking but had them as opposing counsel. Very nice and collaborative but did not see a single associate on the matter.
Below market, very low key work. A friend went there for the WLB but left quickly because it was pretty much a dead end.
Low key as in boring, low dollars. It was a little too far of a drop going from working on large PE deals to maybe 1-2 deals a year, mostly outside counsel day-to-day work
I interviewed with them and from what I can tell compensation is below market. 1st year starting comp at $170k with approximately 20k increments per year. I chatted with two folks previously there and one said her annual average was 1900 hours and the other one said her average was always below 1800 hours during her time there... Small sample size so I would love more insight too though!
Comp for first years has been 180k for the past year. Waiting to see if it raises higher now after the Milbank raises. I think hours are generally more chill than most Big Law firms, so I think the below market pay is worth it.
Big fan of the sauce
If you like tax, it’s a good firm.
Worked across them on one deal and they were difficult. On subsequent comparable transaction, my client requested the counterparts to choose different counsel - and they did! So I haven’t had to work with S&W since.
