We've recently lost a lot of staff. Now there's about 3 people to a room. There's about 7 people in the office, there used to be 20 when I started here. It would be better if we had an open planned office so when the part time staff go in the afternoon, people aren't left on their own. We aren't sure whether we should go in one office even though we are different departments. Any advise on how to go about that or if we should?

Oh, wow. That's quite a change! I think in this situation, I would want the rest of the team's input. Some people really prefer working in quiet and might appreciate it, and others might prefer the opposite. You don't want to make a decision for everyone that might do more damage to team dynamic, you know?

Yeah I agree, depends how people work and what their opinions are on it,

Go open plan. When numbers drop that low, sitting in separate rooms just makes the place feel emptier. Being together helps morale, stops people feeling isolated, and might even spark cross-department collaboration you would not get otherwise..

What would happen if I left my current company, started at a new one, and got pregnant before 12 months of service with the new company? For reference, I know new company requires 12 months for FMLA, and STD is 3 months.

If I’m not eligible for FMLA, what would that leave situation look like? Not currently pregnant but husband and I are wanting to start trying soon, just don’t want to be in a situation where I can’t take maternity leave. TIA!

Are there any fundamental differences between a salary negotiation during the start (applying for the job) vs. Salary negotiation during a performance review (you’ve been employed for x time and looking for a raise). I’m in the latter and wondering if there are any maneuvers that are different I should be doing.
