The best advice I got was don’t make a move just to make a move. Make sure your next move is a progression in career or is a stepping stone to the next place or role you want to be in.

When reading job descriptions if you have a good number of the qualifications/requirements, I would encourage you to apply!

Yes - have dealt with a very toxic environment myself but made sure my next move was to a bigger firm in term of deal size and number of attorneys. It was my goal at the time and has paid off 😃

Be persistent and never get easily discouraged. I have read several posts here talking about how they get so frustrated for not being invited for an interview after sending several application forms. Remember that there are hundreds of applications being sent to companies every week.

When you feel it in your spirit!! I try to honor my feelings and when it’s telling me it’s time to go, I try to listen

Find people from your alma mater or previous companies on LinkeeIn who are working at companies you want to apply to. This has worked for me everytime to get an employee referral. First I start out just asking them some questions about their experience working there and if they recommend it as a workplace. If I decide to apply I just ask if they’re willing to refer me.

Happy wife happy life is a really toxic saying. I’m just shocked how this has become the standard saying for men in relationships. I have friends of mine saying this all the time, and I have just thought it’s so cringe and always want to say my thoughts on it but always decide to hold back. However, imagine the saying reversed - happy husband happy life - that would lead to all kinds of uproar. To me happy wife happy life means I need to sacrifice my wants and needs to make my wife happy.
