We have Daily 5 choices that the other students make while I meet with small groups. They include buddy reading (they 1st read an assigned story or passage together then what they want), word work (a spelling page then a fun way to practice spelling words), computer (reading curriculum activities, IXL, Typing Club), Listening (Epic Books, Storyline Online), and Read to Self (assigned story or passage again, then what they want). I explicitly teach these at the beginning of the year and we role play and practice. Then they are able to independently make these choices while I meet with small groups.
