Hello, All! I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the Women's Conference among other sources. I'd love to hear a fresh perspective on business, trends, tech, marketing, equality in the workforce, etc. I'd love to learn something new. I'm at the VP level and have started a couple of companies, so nothing too junior, but open to many topics. Please share any speakers, books, webinars, or events that you may come across.
I’m gearing up for my first hire/direct report. Which management/leadership books would folks recommend reading for inspiration, food for thought?
Hi everyone! I’m a young CPA, relocating to Raleigh. I made the decision to transition into sales after realizing that I want to bring more fun into my career. I’m currently reading sales books, watching Keenan’s YouTube channel, and learning all I can. I’m relentlessly applying for SDR positions but I’m having trouble landing interviews (been applying through LinkedIn). I would appreciate advice from anyone who transitioned from another industry into sales. How did you break the barrier?
Latest episode posted! “Generals in the Making” is a gem of a leadership book and should be required reading for any early or mid-level professional. The book is an engrossing examination of how four army generals of World War II, each a major player in their own right, navigated the uncertain and tumultuous pre-war years in their careers. sphttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/black-market-leadership/id1523238553?i=1000533915181
I work at a preschool that redirects disruptive students by giving them a book to calm down and regroup. Do you think this is a good practice or does it ultimately lead the student to see reading as punishment?
I am beyond stuck in my first 1.5 years of my career.

I’m juggling re-vamping my site and a side project to hopefully make my book more robust.
With no kind of leadership or mentor, I’m just figuring out how to dig myself out of this hole. Any advice for this chump?
This is consistent with the research findings in my book "Lead From the Future". The 5-10 year horizon brings as much to see opportunities as much as threats and is the north star; need even now
I’m going to be tasked with filling an expanding department soon, so I’m trying to get a jump on it now. Details:
- Aggressive/smart leadership seeking to improve output ASAP

You’d be a good fit if you’re fearless, move fast, experienced across all media, and ready to take a place from 0 to 100.
You’d be a terrible fit if you’re a jerk, a misogynist jerk, a racist jerk, or a close talker.

Help me settle this argument: Can you still be considered an optimist if you always plan for the worst? So, not necessarily expecting the worst to happen, but considers all outcomes (good as well as bad) in order to make the best of the situation once it arrives.

Folks who are going to school this year - are ye planning on living with others or having your own place?
Almost done with second weeks in industry. I absolutely LOVE IT! Ive been making a point to reach out to people from different teams via Slack and arrange a quick meet and greet zoom call. Been introducing myself mostly to the heads of each department, head of marketing, head of sales, head of product development. to get a better idea of what everyone does, and asked sales/product for walkthroughs of the products so that I know exactly what we offer as a company

How to tell if you are a dumb person? I am good at my job, but when it comes to conversations I feel like I say and ask dumb questions. During work meetings and even outside work I get smirks or laughs from things I say. I know I say dumb things sometimes to be funny, but don’t want to be viewed as a dumb person.

Lead from the heart by Mark C Crowley (for leadership)
Actual leadership and sales skill only come from real on the ground experience! They can’t be learnt from books
SC1 - ppl who write these books actually write it basis their experiences only.
Did you learnt about history in school by actually participating in those events? Or by knowledge of ppl who hd witnessed and documented it. You won’t be a consultant had you not learnt the capabilities of the role in your academics.
I respect your opinion but reading helps too! In today’s age, you cannot be given multiple opportunities to make things right.. so learn from examples of leadership who did wrong, learnt lesson and ppl have documented it as learning!
Start with why - Simon Sinek, it's actually broadly applicable.
On my TBR list! I’m personally a fan of Simon Sinek and specially his conversations on organizations culture.
