I think a happy workplace is one where the drama and gossip is at a minimum. You can never eliminate these issues completely. But if people can get along for the most part, and people can work well together, jokes a little, and enjoy each other’s company.

A happy workplace, to me, is one where people feel psychologically safe. You can ask questions, make mistakes, and be honest without feeling embarrassed or punished. Mutual respect matters more than perks.
A happy workplace, to me, isn’t constant positivity - it’s where people feel safe being honest. Where you can say you’re overwhelmed without it being held against you.
Where priorities are clear, effort is noticed, and you don’t feel like you have to brace yourself before speaking up.
The first thing to came to my mind reading this was sitting at my kitchen table, working at home during the pandemic. At the time it didn't seem so happy, we all forget how disturbing and depressing that time was. But looking back now, I was content just plowing through work on my laptop and being comfortable in my own space with none of the usual workplace annoyances. These days I don't really mind being in the office, but that period of solitude looks nice in retrospect.
