I think it's a silly term that people take way too seriously. I've had friendships with guys in the workplace, and I guess we could have joked that we were work spouses. But we wouldn't have taken it to mean anything beyond that we were friends in the office.
Pro
In my previous relationship, genuinely about 50% of them cheated on their partners with their "work wives" so I feel I have a bit of trauma :D
Hate, hate, hate it. I cringe every time I hear this term. It's just so weird to me. Like what's wrong with just saying you're friends? Do you seriously need a label for everything?
Pro
Totally agree! I think it's because sometimes maybe there is something else going on behind the scenes in some cases... I have experienced this myself, not fun! :D
Soooo inappropriate. Fine enough if you’re single (obviously always be careful at work though) but not OK if you’re not.
Pro
100% with you there, ok if single but totally unacceptable if you're in a relationship
It’s weird to me, but so are a lot of things, to be honest. To each their own. I barely like making friends here, let alone “spouses” at work! 😂
Pro
ahaha I am with you there :D Work is to stay professional, I keep my personal and professional lives veryyy separate from each other!
Listen, the way I would divorce my husband so fast if I found out, he had a work wife. Is there anything more disrespectful?
Pro
100% with you there! It's beyond disrespectful and so unnecessary

I think it’s a slippery path toward actual infidelity and personally would not be okay if my husband had one. I’ve never had to worry with him though, so hasn’t been an issue

I have had experience where a lot of these work relationships actually formed into real relationships... off the back of cheating. so I am totally with you there
Work wife of 8 yrs, great friends with the real wife and made sure he ate the lunch she packed him!
Pro
Oh interesting! Why do you guys feel the need to call it a work wife and not just good friends?! Nice to hear though that it has worked for some!
Pro
Same 😅 I get the idea behind it, but if my partner suddenly had a ‘work wife,’ I’d definitely have questions. Curious does anyone actually think it’s harmless, or is it always a bit of a red flag?
Pro
Surely most people see it as a red flag, it may be overlooked at first is the only thing I can think?!
