Really nothing better than asking locals
I like to use roadside america. I use it whenever we go on a roadtrip to find unique places to stop. Tiktok/social media (Instagram) is also helpful if you know specific states/area you are looking for.
I cross the bridge when I get there. I just book a place to stay and I ask the locals. They're the best tour guides. Know body knows the place better than them plus hearing their amazing stories with each place you visit feels fulfilling.
