What industry is the best/easiest transition for a banker (Sr. Relationship manager) with 20+ years of experience?

My husband is looking to transition and I am asking him to go I to fintech, and he says he isn't qualified. He is in his early 40s, so still got many years to go before retirement.

Of course he could qualify leveraging his relationship banking/ sales experience. Fintechs need to build partnerships within their eco system and that’s where he can deploy his experience!

Consulting firms are always a possibility for candidates with longer tenures in their prior industry. You can leverage being considered an SME (subject matter expert) based on your former industry experience and use that as a foot in the door, then hiring managers may justify your ability to learn on the fly for the actual consulting part.

If he is with a big bank the easiest route may be to go to the investment side, get licensed and then start studying programming that specifically relates to FinTech if the is where he wants to be.

He could probably qualify for roles like Customer Success Manager / Account Manager

I’m in the same boat. Currently a lending officer in my late thirties and looking to transition into fintech. It’s hard to make that transfer though as I lack “tech” experience. The other hard part is finding a role that can at least match my current pay. Wishing your husband the best of luck.

He sounds like a qualified financial professional. My office in Financial Services is hiring. If you want, I could pass his resume along to my office manager to see if he would be a good fit!

No argument here, typically am a passive user of discussion boards on this platform. Just appreciate it when I see others take a more aggressive approach towards calling out commenters who obviously bring nothing but baseless “send me your info” fluff to these otherwise helpful discussions. Best of luck to all in their career journeys as it’s definitely a unique time to navigate the rapidly changing job landscape we live with today.

Morgan Stanley is hiring if he wants to get into the Securities Industry. I was a relationship banker now working for Morgan Stanley. I am 39. Morgan Stanley will pay for licensing exams too

That is interesting to note, I mean the offer from Morgan Stanley.

many bankers come in as analysts and solution architects as they understand what they are going through and are very good at being able to explain how to system or what it would do for them

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.
