I want to say $80-90k, depending on city and district of course.
Can definitely make more than that in California. I make that and I’m a 5th year teacher.
In our county, it is $99,500. That is with a doctorate and 25+ years of experience. It definitely depends on the state, county, and credentials.
Houston ISD is paying up to 105k for selected schools. I’m watching what happens this year. It may be worth the drive and stress. It’s 44k more than I make now. (And have 20 years experience.)
We should post salary schedules.
I am in Kent Count MI with 25 yrs, 2 master, SPED/ principal certs and I make 56890
Enthusiast
Wayne co Mi. 27 yrs + 60 beyond masters- I’m at 103k
WA State is a few thousand less than New Jersey, at the top of the salary scale.
I think Alaska is the top. NM just increased and it is cheaper to live here, Lots of job openings,
My district tops out at about 90K base pay for a classroom teacher. Many lower 48 big coastal cities definitely pay more than Alaskan districts do.
30 years experience with a Masters AND NBCT…$75,000
In New Jersey there are districts where teachers are making six figures.
low $100s with 20 years experience
Mountain View/Los Altos in the South SF Bay Area in California is the highest I know of. Their salary schedule maxes out at $192K. The median home price there is $1.9 million though, so it’s still not enough to buy a home in the area.
113K with masters & 10 years experience. A teacher with doctorate can tap out at just under $150K.
While an interesting question - the numbers will largely depend on area of the country and cost of living.
Over $100K in Colorado easily
