Dogs bring happiness and are in their situation due to no fault of their own, the transient population on the other hand…
There’s enough shelters for every homeless person in NYC, they reject it primarily because they can’t do drugs there. And they drastically ruin public spaces with their behavior, along with a ton of sexual and physical assaults, including an old coworker of mine who literally got thrown in front of a train and killed last year.
there are many reasons someone might not choose to stay at a shelter. The shelter bed offered might be far away, people may have to be separated from their possessions (and risk losing them or having them stolen), some groups are more likely to get assaulted in certain shelters. Maybe it’s hard to believe, but there are people who would literally rather be on the streets than 2 hours on the subway from their support network.
it isn’t okay that people are on the streets, especially if they’re causing problems for other people, but shelters aren’t a real solution to homelessness. affordable housing is.
ED it sounds like you’re conflating being homeless (a financial problem) with being an addict (a health crisis) and insisting that both of those are somehow linked to criminality.
Someone isn’t “bad” just because they’re poor. Someone doesn’t “lack motivation” because they’re an addict

Sorry, I lack the empathy to adequately deal with the homeless of this city in the manner you want. There are thousands of options for which these people can avail themselves of and they instead choose vagrancy.
I’m sure you could fit a bunk bed (or several) in whatever place you call home, so feel free to pitch in and help them out.
Report for us how this goes.
My guess? You feel this is a problem *other* people should solve rather than taking action yourself and housing the unhoused.
Cry me a river.
Sounded like you didn’t get catcalled enough
I can’t believe this is something to complain about lmao
Ok
What do you want them to do instead?
Who doesn't like dogs?
i like dogs and would love to have one - i just find it ridiculous how passer-bys treat the dogs so much better than the people who are taking care of the dog
Send them to Martha’s Vineyard 😂
