What is the hardest part of owning a small business? Mine is marketing and getting folks in the door. I own a unique niche type retail business and getting the word out to the public is a full time job. What has/hasn't worked for you?

(Continued from original question)
I have tried the following so far:

>Multiple platform social media daily posts.
>Creating events posted to local FB town talk pages.
>Reached out to local papers for interview/article.
>Local radio spots.
>Charitable donations to events in the area.
>Sponsored local events in conjunction with other small businesses.

I am also considering:
>Working with the Welcome Center nearby and create a information pamphlet.
>Working with hotels in the area to place the pamphlet as a place of interest for visitors.
>Reaching out to the State DOT for information on Highway signage.
>Looking into electronic bulletin board signage.
>Spreading my radio ads to the bigger metro area.
>Sending press releases/articles/invitations for interviews to applicable media companies across the country including social media, magazines, newspapers, radio, TV.

What am I missing? Am I headed down the wrong path?

Hey! I saw your post and just wanted to say what you’re building is genuinely inspiring. Marketing for niche retail can definitely feel like a full-time job, especially with all the platforms and outreach efforts you’ve already tried.

I’m Ruth, a Social Media Manager, and I help busy business owners like you show up consistently, grow fast, and attract real leads—without the daily overwhelm.

Right now, I’m offering discounted social media management for a few select clients as part of a showcase project. You’ll get premium support and strategy; I’ll get strong portfolio case studies—it’s a win-win.

Would it be okay if I sent over a few quick details?

Might help to know what the unique niche is. I am in a niche service based business, and one of the primary things we try to do is cultivate referral patterns. In our case, that largely means realtors, property managers, and other trades. They're not likely to become our direct customers in most cases, but we build relationships with other professionals who's clients may have a need for us. When a problem arises that we are a fit for, they know where to turn.

Saw someone asking about high-rise apartments in Mott Haven earlier. Just moved into a new apartment building here and honestly it’s not as bad as I thought. New buildings are safe and pretty spacious (relatively speaking). Downside is not really much to do around this area and food delivery is not great. Hope this is helpful for any one who is looking at this area.

I'm working on a pitch deck, for an event that I'm planning next year for my wine brand called OBA, but I'm struggling to come up with sponsorship ideas.

I don't want to go the traditional route of creating tiers, because I feel like you should do most of the things in tiers regardless on how much they donated. Can anyone assist with coming up with some ideas?

Also, does anyone know how to create a virtual swag bag?

Thanks in advance.
