LLC will give you more legal protection DBA will save you more on taxes. Just depends what kind of business you plan to be doing and whether a legally separate entity is better. Most people start as a sole prop (dba) and then when they grow open up an llc
LLC is basically a sheltered sole proprietorship, isolating your home and personal finances from liability I’d done correctly. In Michigan, costs $50 to set up and $25/year. Very cheap “insurance”. You will still claim your taxes as you do with a sole proprietorship though. If you do go LLC, be sure to make “draws” to your personal accounts as your paychecks to yourself. You should not use your business account as freely as you personal account as you could under just a sole proprietorship. Just a couple more steps to take but helps isolate your family against liability claims to your business if any arise.
