My job was eliminated 4 months ago. Looking back I’m amazed how much crap I put up for 25 years just to keep a job. Toxic bosses, no leadership in management and i didn’t recognize/admit my burnout. To bad society puts this extra pressure on working mothers to do it all. Reality is that you can’t do it all unless you have a full time maid, nanny and cook. I wish I understood that kids needs a parent to be present at home…..not just a parent rushing to catch the train for a job or shushing them when you have a conference call or checking emails.

Good luck finding a new role!
Oh wow, there are so many. I learned a lot of lessons on self worth this year. I learned to not take anything less than what I want.
Well said
After 10 years in this biz, I can't really say I learned anything new or significant in 2023. Lessons from past experience that were reinforced include don't take anything for granted. Crap happens. Good times can become bad times, and bad times become good times, almost overnight. But, if we never fell down we would never have learned how to stand up.
Thanks. Inspiring.

After getting laid off, I realized I had no hobbies. Nothing I enjoyed outside of my job, which made losing a job I Liked 10x more devastating. I was lucky enough to find something relatively quickly (in part due to my wonderful work friends who sent me opportunity after opportunity) but the whole experience made me realize how much of my personality and life revolved around work.
I reconnected with college friends not in finance, developed/redeveloped some hobbies (boxing, cooking, reading)
Now that I’m in a new role, I’m working hard to make sure I keep up with those old friends!
Thanks for sharing :). Inspiring.
