I always try to get a workout in at some point, it really helps me get rid of any frustrations that I have and makes me feel productive. I'll also try to get out of the house for a bit to get some fresh air and have a change of scenery.

I work out every single morning. And I have noticed when I skip a couple days I start to kind of get into a funk and then it becomes hard to get back into the habit. I try to just maintain that healthy habit to help me kick the funk.

Remind myself that this is temporary.

Something will eventually happen. I feel like I keep getting things in the works, but nothing is actually panning out. I’ve been on a waitlist type of thing for one job because they only have so many training classes. Almost 3 weeks now. Did not think it would be this long.

Man I gotta get up and, since I’m laid off, take my time waking up loosening up, and then showering and hitting the gym hard. Best shape of my life went 12 hard rounds boxing and did conditioning after. Walked a few miles in the sun. Times are great. I’m applying to literally 100s of jobs that I am more than qualified for and I’ll be making 30-50k more.

Well now it’s been about 3 months. Those jobs…they never lead to anything. Maybe a sorry went with another candidate email. Are these job posts even real? I’m not on deaths door step financially. I’ll be ok another month or two but it seems like that month or two will past just like the last. Man this is soul crushing. Illl hit the gym tomorrow and feel a lot better. Wait, is that my lifestyle or actual plan. Because I’ve said the same thing this entire past week. Hold on let me answer this text. “How’s the job hunt going? Any update?” 5th text of the day like from a family member or friend. Add a slur on the end if it’s one from a friend. Can’t tell them the truth because I don’t want them to worry. Lie without lying and say “no update but I found two jobs today that seems like we are a match made in heaven as far as what we are looking for.” Although I now know, you won’t hear a work from that job. It was posted 2 days ago but you’ll see it still open 30+ days later.

My friends I’m not sure there is anything within my power to land a job. It’ll have to be the 1 in a 1000 sheer luck chance apply to a job that isn’t a fake posting, make it through HRs stupid ass automated system for key words and what not. Which I believe the director of IT should be doing. That lady in HR doesn’t know a damn thing about IT. She doesn’t know the scope of the projects I did. What working professional services roles and manger services roles with upper management appraisal in both roles entails. I wonder if their system understands what your management constantly giving kudos to your ticket queue.

Should I learn a new skill? I bet that will get me through then. But it’s every role in it having the same issue. I’ve seen software, cyber, cloud, data, PMs all having the same issue. The exact same issue.

Has anyone here participated in the year long remote year program? My company is fully remote in the US and is in general supportive of me going but concerned about local and international tax liability. Remote year doesn’t share tax advice and our HR team is small. Curious to hear from people at companies who have done it before and if there were any issues from a tax or payroll perspective. Trying to get the formal approval from my company before officially signing up, advice welcome!

Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

Thanks!!

I am currently a civil engineer thinking of switching to software engineering. I got my masters in water resource engineering where I was coding a decent amount for assignments and it has really stuck with me. Unfortunately, in my current role and field (civil), I don’t really get to do much coding. Does anyone have a similar experience of jumping ship to do software engineering? What would be the best way to go about it (coding bootcamp, another degree, something else)?

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Hey team! So I was laid off from my SDR position about a week ago. A couple months back, I had an offer for a BDR position that I ended up turning down but I really liked and connected with the manager. Is it worth it to reach out? I applied to other positions in the same company. What about reaching out to previous co workers at a different company? Not sure how to navigate this… please help. Also I’m sorry if this is the wrong bowl to post in.
