So i have adhd and really bad anxiety. Seeing a physchiatrist that will likely put me on anti anxiety meds.

Has anyone with adhd here gone on anti anxiety meds without treating the adhd, and if so how did the meds affect concentration and memory?

Mine make me feel absolutely insane. I block everyone out and focus but I'm not even present. I work in in office of 80+ people though. They just think I'm a zombie.

Are you already on adhd meds too and thinking of stopping when if take anti anxiety meds?

I have been off and on meds since I was in my 20s. Im now in my 30s and off of my meds. I found that seeing a therapist for several years and finding ways to deal and cope with my ADHD was far better than being on my meds. I like routine and need to keep busy. I have coping mechanisms that work for me when my anxiety and ADHD get in the way that I use that tend to work that I don't need medication at this time.

Question if anyone has advice/experience, starting a new role and will be 11w pregnant. I knew going in I probably wouldn’t qualify for family leave and that’s been confirmed (must work for company for 12 months). They do have “medical leave” I would qualify for (unpaid, 4w max) but job is not guaranteed. I also am not sure I’ll qualify for FMLA since that says you have to work a consecutive 26w (this will take me to 37w pregnant, it’s twins so most likely will give birth between 34-36w)..

My therapist keeps suggesting me to start anti-depressant and idk why. I think I do have a history of negative thinking and have been facing a lot of challenges in my life. My main symptom is basically loss of motivation and self-isolation. But I still have interests and can get out of bed, eat, sleep ok. Should I start medication? I have a lot of reservation for this.

How much would a 30 day supply of Vyvanse (30mg) cost me after insurance? I know this is going to vary by plan but I'm still curious as to know how expensive of a medication this is.

My pharmacy informed me that the insurance will not cover without authorization from the psych. My psych was wary about this & instead suggested Ritalin during my session. He mentioned that insurance companies want us to first try Ritalin because they are generally cheaper. How much truth is there to this? Thanks!

*Methylphenadite makes you more dyslexic.* I've been analysing this hypothesis for over a year now. As a late diagnosis, I'm quite certain when I started taking meds, despite never having this issue before, I would misspell words and say the completely wrong words without realising. I saw the same thing with a colleague on stimulants doing exactly the same i.e. say dollars when they meant euros. Other late diagnosed people, what is your experience?
