I take the time to map out a general curriculum plan, since we adapt ours every year, pre-schedule all annual IEP meetings, and make portfolios for each child. Getting ready to start the year is so labor intensive and time consuming, but it pays off to be organized because things run much more smoothly when this is all done ahead of time.

I like the portfolio idea!
What I do that makes my mind so much calmer is that after we finish each unit I restock and organize all of the supplies and materials and get it ready for the next year. I also clean up the activity materials right away. These practices have significantly streamlined the processes and saved a huge amount of time. You know when you finish an activity exactly what you need, but if you wait to restock until you open the bin the next year you have to spend the time and brain power to figure all of those things out.

That is a great idea!!

I just started a morning routine of devotional and meditation time and it has been wonderful!

This is so good. I try to make sure I have time for devotions and Journaling, but I confess that once everything gets crazy I let days slip by without making the time. I hope this year I will make better effort.

I totally reorganize my desk and cabinets, toss out any snacks left over from last year, and restock pencils, paper, and markers.
