What’s the hardest conversation you’ve ever had with a supervisor or manager? How did it go? Mine was having to tell on a beloved coworker who was stealing medical supplies.

Does it have to be a supervisor I was working under? I used to work as a front end developer. When I was just learning (self-taught), I connected with someone who wanted to mentor me. He was high-up at his company and very well-known in the industry, so I was so excited! He helped me for a couple of months and then started asking me out on dates which I made clear was not happening. Turns out he was the senior manager of a new location they were opening in my city, and he might be able to "find a job for me there" which we could only discuss at his place over wine. Ya.....I called someone from upper management at that company and sent them the screen shots (he was bold enough that he sent all this through text...amazing).

WOW ICK

I haven’t had to have a difficult conversation with my current supervisor, but I would say in the past it’s usually really hard for me to tell a manager or supervisor that I’m quitting. I get very uncomfortable. It makes me very nervous to do this so I know that’s not the most dramatic thing but for me it’s a big deal.

Do Leidos, SAIC, and other mostly-fed consulting businesses pay bonuses to all levels? If so, what does a typical bonus target look like? Booz Allen does not pay bonuses until you get to the Senior Associate level (1 step below Director) and I think that impacts employee performance and work ethic pretty dramatically. I’m wondering if not paying bonuses is common to federal contracting because of how the contracts or priced, or if this is something unique to Booz Allen.
