What’s the ramp up period like in-house? I’m going on 2 weeks and had very little work. Not complaining because no more billables, but curious.

It depends. 6ish months for me

It can take a while. If you get work directly from internal clients and not others in Legal, start asking if you can sit in on meetings with the business teams or go to lunch with them so they know you and that you’re available to help

I started a couple months ago and am still not very busy. My position is a new position so I think it’s taking even longer since it hasn’t existed before but I’ve been told this is normal for in house jobs and it takes around 6 months. I am pushy and try to get involved in as many meetings as possible to meet different teams and learn how the business works while I have free time.

If a startup, almost no time!

It’s a very large, publicly traded company.

Get a good mentor to show you the ropes and you’ll be good.

I started whilst going through company onboarding. In other words, within an hour of my first day. But this was global privacy for an 800,000 person company.

I'm a marketer and I'm having a hard time getting my clients to listen to me.

I have been in marketing for 10 years now. I've worked with hundreds of clients and have been able to increase their sales by over $1 million each year.

But every time I go into a meeting with a new client, they ignore everything I say. They just want to talk about their product. They don't seem interested in learning how to market it better.

Two kids under 5, I am putting in a large lump sum in their 529s to (hopefully) mean the kids are set for full tuition, room, board, etc. at at least a state school. Aside from not having that money more liquid to tap into if needed, what downside may I not be considering? I assume the money growing there is as good as the money growing in my brokerage account and I get tax benefits. 12mo emergency savings on hand as well, so do not think I need the additional cash available to me.
