There's a ton of self help and leadership books out there to help people in their careers. If there was one that was written front the lense of a public accounting, would you read it?

How To Squeeze More Work Out Of Your Employees For Lesser Pay - co-written by Big 4 gang.

I would if I could bill it

Depends on who wrote it. If it was run of the mill line partner probably not, I'm not interested in reading about anecdotes from some random person based on their personal experience. But I might consider it if it was a well researched book from a service line leader or similar written in conjunction with an expert on productivity, management, etc.

Fishbowl and r/accounting have been pretty instrumental for my career so far, but I guess a book can be nice

Like how to manage a team/be a good leader in public accounting? I probably wouldn’t read it as it is too niche to PA and would want something more broad that I can carry with me. That being said I’m sure there are people that would read it ( partners)

I lead a team of women (ranging from 2-8 years into their careers) and want to advocate for their career growth with management. I’ve made the case for promotions and raises (have been pushing for this for months and keep being told “soon”—but I won’t give up), but I also want to try smaller asks and would love suggestions. Are there any books, one-off classes/trainings, virtual events, memberships, etc. that you’d recommend? Thank you!

Our senior creative leadership keep talking about winning Cannes Lions and D&AD pencils but none of them have actually won any since 2007 (that’s 14 years 😭 ) and between all three of them they’ve never won more than a couple of silvers, a couple of bronzes and a couple of in-books (that’s with a combined experience of over 60 years 😭). They have no clue 🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭. Tell me something about your agency so that I can feel better about the hell-hole I find myself in🙏

Have an interview tomorrow for a job slightly outside my experience (coming from valuation in an accounting firm. Job is Portfolio Management Analyst) but it pays 12% more with 20-30% bonuses. The recruiter said the team was impressed with my background and said I was "senior but willing to accept a (lower) salary" that was in their range. The salary is at the lower end of my range but it makes me feel like I should hold out for more. OTOH I'm afraid of missing the hiring boat. Help!
