You can definitely build up the skill. Yes, some people are naturally good with words or charming but at the core, you have to understand human psychology and behavior. Developing your knowledge in these areas may get you just as far, if not further, as that born-with-it talent.

do you think coursera is a good site for copy courses?

Depends on the type of copywriting. Direct response can be learned by anyone. Creative and brand copywriting is something you either get or don’t. Not that you don’t still improve with practice.

Not exactly. You can learn how to get better at it, but I’d say to be good enough to succeed in such a competitive niche requires some serious innate talent as well.

I started writing just in freelance projects. It would be so varied what people wanted from you. What was amazing for what client, is something that needed a TON of work for another. You can definitely hone the skills, and I would say to lean into the things that you are naturally good at.

As someone who’s hired both “natural” writers and those who came up through courses, I’ve gotta say that the best ones are usually a blend. Talent gets you noticed, but skills and discipline make you great.

It's a combination of talent and practice. The best writers have a natural ability to make connections in their head. But the best also read deeply and are intensely curious. They tend to have esoteric interests and are playing a deeper game than most people. Their ability to put it all together on demand and on deadline is that makes them useful and valuable.

Hey friends! I hope everybody has had a productive week and had an awesome weekend for those who enjoyed their holiday! This question is specifically for Amazon Web Services in sales.

So I am currently a potential candidate as an AAE. I was told that I would in the future have to prepare a mock deck and deal with objections.

Has anybody had to prepare them and what was the scenario?

Thanks everyone!
