Do you find working remotely during this time that you’re having a harder time staying on top of everything that’s going on? With the scattered communication and a boss who hasn’t been as focused and can be hard to pin down, I sometimes think I’m giving 150% but something ends up lagging and I’m just wiped out. What are some of your tactics to avoid missed items and stay active and on top of everything through the Covid funk?

I’m being forced back into the office. No one is wearing masks. I’ve found that I get considerably more done, and more efficiently, when I’m not constantly worried about dying.

like

I’ll be honest. I want to be back in the office. Much more productive and focused

like

No, I find that I like it better except that I miss the interaction with colleagues. But not everyone handles it well or likes it and it sounds like your boss is struggling, making your job harder.

like

I hate WFH, but I wouldn't want to be forced back. I also have a hard time staying focused, and it's really lonely (I live alone). Unfortunately, I also don't have any good suggestions.

like

Nope... quite the opposite actually. I love working from home! I get so much more done, and my executives said that they like that I'm able to do so because they've noticed my response time has increased and they feel like they get more work time from me. Lol! I love not having all of the office interruptions.

Right there with you. I find it a struggle to be motivated at home. I’m doing my job well, but I felt that I actually enjoyed it at the office.

Anyone successfully take STD or extended long term disability for final IVF procedure? I’d like to take 6 months, Destress before hand then go into extraction. Docs say if this doesn’t work they recommend I move onto other options so I want to give it a fair shot. My clinic will fill out fMLA / medical forms but not sure who ultimately decides the duration. Should I also consider other mental health leave alternatives? Thank you!

So my firm asked us first year associates to give them two choices for some partners to be our mentors, and they don’t need to be in our practice group. I have worked with several partners and they all seem to be good mentors I could learn from. So how could I choose my mentors? Should I choose someone I have not worked with yet, someone most senior in the firm, or someone may give mr most work in the future?

I lateraled from a small firm to regional big law last year. I was told that my offer was commensurate with class year (5th year). The firm recently increased first year salary, with a 5% increase for all other attorneys. My original salary was equal to the new first year salary. The difference between my new salary and a first year is now $10k. I think it is fairly obvious that the hiring partner was not truthful with me. How would you address this? Is another lateral move my only option?

1. PwC AC is offshore counterpart of PwC US. Good salary. No travel opportunities. Average yearly hike ~10% Mostly technical work.
2 PwC India is a pure consulting firm. Salary better than PwC AC. client facing work. Can grow as a management consultant. Great Travel opportunities.
