First day back with students is August 19, but that’s only the freshmen. All students are back on August 20. And frankly, I hate the first day because I hate going over procedure, dress codes, expectations, tardiness, phones, etc. All the stuff that admin wants us to say bores me to tears no matter how I try to present it. And I have 180 new names and faces swirling through my head that are going to switch classes again and again. I’m much happier on the first day of content when they realize that math isn’t as scary as they think it is.

I am with the students who think math is scary. I struggle with anything Math. The procedures and expectations day for me is Day 2, and it is my least favorite.
The first day is August 28th and the most exciting thing is meeting my new students and seeing the excitement on their faces and everybody ready to share about themselves and what they did over this summer.

Wow, you have a later start date. Did y'all get out later? I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer break.
In Minnesota,we ALWAYS start Tuesday after Labor Day.
Those Summer days are brief! 🤗

When I was in school, we always started after Labor Day. They always said it was for the farmers (Oklahoma).
First official day back for us is 8/19. Some kids are more excited than others, but usually it’s a really relaxed day and most are having a lot of fun seeing everyone again. My favorite thing for me, is that it’s just a really easy day of getting everything sorted and starting a brand new year!

I love the activities I get to do on my first day. I always do an activity, then cover emergency procedures, and wrap up with a fun activity.
August 27 th. My favorite thing is seeing how happy the kids when they are having fun together and making new friends.

I love it when returning 7th and 8th graders act like they are so happy to be back. Of course, there are always those students who act like school is the worst place to be.
8/12 my first day back. Kids come back 8/14. My favorite thing is that in the high school I will have the whole first week as students learn their new schedules before anyone other than real reading fanatics even thinks about coming to the library.

Enjoy those days! It just feels like school starts earlier every year.
Dang. I have to go back 7/31 😭

Oh my, that is so early. I hope you enjoy the next few days.
Wow, different dates here!! We return as staff on 8/20, and kiddos start 8/26. I feel like this is a short summer compared to years before.

I know, the dates really are all so different. I guess the districts all have different schedules. Regardless, I hope everyone enjoys the last few days before we are back to the grindstone.
Staff reports JULY 25th! Ugh!!!
Kids on August 1st

I guess there is no reason to fight it. Like it or not, school days will soon be upon us. I have to admit, this is the first year I am not looking forward to school.
We report three days two weeks before Labor Day, then three days the week of Labor Day, and start the Tuesday after Labor Day. It’s kind of nice to ease into the year.
We go back this coming up Thursday and I cannot believe it. It really seems like the summer just flew right on by. My favorite thing about the first day is getting back to my routine and meeting all of my new students for the year (in a classroom setting without their parents haha).

For real. I have enjoyed meeting our new and returning parents at our family fun nights. Inside, I sometimes cringe a bit when I meet the incoming 6th graders of older siblings who were a bit rotten. But maybe these kiddos will be different than their older siblings 😆
