If new hires are really carrying themselves like that and it's considered inappropriate (as it would likely be in most businesses), someone needs to tell them. It might also be a good idea to talk to whomever hired them and find out how they carried themselves during the interviews. There could be something wrong with the hiring process that needs to be addressed.

Workplace language has definitely become more informal over time. I think it often reflects generational communication styles rather than intentional disrespect.
