First year here in a quiet patch (following a very busy period). There have been a few days where I bill 0 hours, which I’m told isn’t worth worrying about in this quiet time. But how do you spend your time on days when you bill nothing? This is a major stress for me. Cheers!

This stressed me out so bad when I was in your shoes and in hindsight I wished it hadn't. Enjoy your time and don't feel guilty. When work does come, acknowledge it promptly and take the time to get it right. Then, when you've made a good impression, more comes...and so on and so on.

You can ask for work but be wary of overcommitting. A slow start that builds a good reputation is so much better than mismanaged time while you're learning to balance.

How many emails and/or Slack messages do you receive and respond to on a typical day? My employer wants everything answered within 24 hours but in reality responses need to be made almost immediately. This makes getting back on task and being productive almost impossible when there are constant interruptions. Any advice on this or asking for accommodations? I think my best option is to change jobs.
