I can only imagine, usually I have learned trial by fire.
I still don’t feel onboarded 1 year in. What was the process like for you?

What makes you feel properly onboarded?
Actually having the information I need for my job, not just meeting people who I'll be working with.
This! I felt this way at my last job, it took about 2 weeks, I was so impressed with the onboarding process, so inspiring.
It was a whole week schedule, each with a presentations with stakeholder teams. I loved that I could reference the presentations after the meeting. The procurement team had the best one, detailing the process, even with a flowchart!
My second job out of college put us through onboarding for 2weeks. Looking back, I appreciate it so much
Now.. the most I’ve had is 1 day and sometimes not at all 🥲

Never. I have always just been thrown into the deep water right away and have to learn to swim. Is there even such a thing as good onboarding?
Feeling properly onboarded in two weeks is incredible. That’s usually a sign of good leadership and structure within your org. So congrats to you!
Personally, I’ve never felt properly onboarded in any of my past roles within product. There was a time where I was 6 months in and still didn’t have access to certain apps. I wanted to believe it was because the org I joined was still very new and trying to figure out how to standardize processes. But looking back on it now, things were usually chaotic and no one knew what was going on.

What are some things you’d do in your first week if there wasn’t a proper checklist or project ready for you?
Umm...literally never. Not in this career field anyhow.
