EY background check - anyone ever experienced delays that pushed back start date? I start 8/15 and submitted background check 7/27. Still in process so hopefully I can start on time. If I can’t because of delay, would I be eligible for unemployment during gap between last day at prior employer/first day at EY? 😰

I need to turn in a two week notice, but my boss has a week of PTO scheduled (one of many weeks this summer). He still “checks in” via email and IM while on leave. Is it unacceptable to turn in a notice while he’s technically on PTO, even if he’s still checking in periodically?
