Yeah, it means that he thinks you have better things to do.
When I started, I thought I needed to know everything about everything. When your junior, you need to focus on your workstream and trust your managers judgement. And definitely, if you are under a tighter deadline, take every extra half hour you’re given
It also might just be more polite than saying GTFO. I'd be shocked if I told someone they can leave and they just sat there.
It depends.
Something I would say to be polite when something needs to be discussed in a smaller group - often more to make the client comfortable in the situation. Would brief team afterwards on key points
I would always stay. Even if you don't pay attention - optically your willingness to stick around to 1) Absorb information and 2) Support the team can have a lasting impact if you continue that pattern.
Nothing gets accomplished in most meetings.
I was told that I could stay if I really wanted to, but it was running really late and I wasn't involved with the work they were discussing. I'm just wondering if the expectation was for me to just sit there and take notes?
He's probably giving you more time for FB since it seems you may be on the app in the meeting.
Not necessarily a jackass K1, he or she may know you have a crap ton of work and may be trying to free up some time for you to get it done.
Why would your manager mean something different than what was said. Does your manager often say what they mean?
He doesn't want you there. He's also a jack ass
He wants you working on your other work and is trying to find a polite way to say it. Look busy.
