Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

For those interested in $$ figures - Consultant salary post MBA is ~150k and bonus potential is around 45k. Upon promotion salary increase is at least above 25k. For those concerned about hours - teams really strive to find a balance. There's mechanisms in place to track hours and add resources in cases where people are burning. Partners are incentivized to do this. Stress is based so much on the type of person you are - either face the challenge head on OR stress about work on hand. There's enough support/resources for those who seek to find efficiencies and get work done. Suggest you really speak with a few people at these firms to get a more realistic picture. These firms are what you make of them. Exit opportunities are great if you do well.
Worth it for the exit ops. Did ~18 months and moved over to ~$210k industry job where 50hrs is a long week. Would not have been possible without name brand and comp.
More $
How much more money?... currently at 130k plus bonus in non-MBB just under a year. Have 7 years of industry experience (4 companies) and a bachelors degree in accounting from a private southern university that isn’t even top 100 overall.
Been considering this for a while but wondering if it’s really worth it since I’m pretty highly specialized and expect my pay to go up at least 20k with promotion to manager next year.
Yes! I didn't want to settle for less and it was definitely a stretch goal for me to go to a top 10 bschool and then recruit for a firm where not many people from my school work. I am not a special talented person by any stretch of imagination. It was and is worth it for me. FYI, i interned in a big 4 and could see the real value of working for a top tier firm as I could compare the two
Thanks bcg1 for your relevant insight! And everyone else too! Open to hearing more experiences and thoughts others have any
Post-MBA comp numbers are close at all firms. But MBB manager is only 2 years later and runs $220-270k base + bonus. 2 years later, its $50-100k more. 2 years later, another $50-100k. AFAIK - no other consulting firm has a similar progression.
Is that really it?
I wouldn’t want to work at MBB. Why would I want to work more hours per week and be more stressed?
It can't be worth it. All name.
It's more aggressive up or out there.
Bcg1, were you in another consulting firm prior to bcg?
I was hired out of Bschool. Had prior consulting exp.
Ah, would you say bschool and the hard work to get into bcg is worth it? (in terms of experience)
@BCG, did a firm pay for your MBA tuition?
Thanks BCG. That's very helpful.
^ wouldn't McKinsey and Bain have that similar structure?
Yes. MBB all roughly close, though the split of base and bonus and how increases work varies quite a bit.
