I believe they’re just searching to see what’s out there. I was hired a couple weeks ago and he let me go four days later and the excuse was there’s not enough phone calls to weren’t you staying on from what I gathered he’s hiring different people every week until he can find the right one that’s probably like him on the first day. He commented that I can do that in 20 minutes for someone who’s never did that part before you can’t do it in less than 20 minutes I’m finding a lot of companies are not teaching. They want past experience for the software that they have. I had the majority of the qualifications. I had nine out of 10 and with the one I didn’t know he wanted it done in 20 minutes.
LinkedIn is a wasteland. I've had better luck going directly to company career pages and setting up alerts. The real pro tip is to get a referral though. Feels like it's impossible to get an interview, much less an offer, without them right now.
You’re on the right track with going straight to the company career pages. I’d add: niche job boards by industry or role, local professional Slack/Discord groups, alumni networks, and direct outreach to hiring managers on LinkedIn (short, targeted notes) rather than just applying into the void.
Well, I’ve started using Google and job boards to research potential job opportunities. Then I have been going directly to the employers website and applying from there. Sometimes I will reach out to hr or hiring managers via LinkedIn to introduce myself.
