Which salary structure do you think is better? A lower base salary with high commission or bonus, or a higher fixed salary with lower commission? Personally, I prefer a higher base salary because it is stable, predictable, and permanent. Future raises, benefits, and job security are usually calculated on basic salary, especially in uncertain markets and long-term career planning today globally.

I personally depend on base pay. I’m a horrible sales person

Base salary always important

As a single mom I’d rather less risk with higher base but if I was single without dependents I’d do the opposite.

Stable income good for mental piece

As an advisor, where I built my own book of business, its commission structure 100% of the time. The upside is just so much greater than salary + bonus.

I worked in a salary + bonus role at a private bank before I pivoted to brokerage, there were a ton of pressure in that role too. You have to produce to get a good bonus, keep your job, and be considered for promotion.

Sure, there is a lot of pressure in building a book and be on 100% commission, but if you have what it takes to succeed, things get a lot easier, and pressure eases significantly.

what do you mean, globally? this whole thing sounds written by ChatGPT

If you think then ignore it and move on . but actually its not

A higher base and lower bonus! But it depends on how much higher the bonus is.

Bonus always depend upon company performance

I prefer higher base salary. Every year your salary increases, it will go further because your base will be higher and it’s more stable

Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.

Asking for a friend. Is a 10k raise (75k ->85k) for a promotion to a midlevel creative position in NYC low or typical??? I feel like the raise itself which is only 13% (and inflation eats 5-8% of that) seems low and I want to encourage them to ask for more.

Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Does anybody know what the typical salary range is and total comp for someone starting out as an internal or external wholesaler? If you are one of these, can you share about your experience in terms of whether you liked it or not, work life balance, travel, etc?
